Footy Quilts AKA Knee Rugs

We've been going to the football for a few years now and as it's a Winter sport, I had always been going to make a couple of small knee-size quilts, or lap rugs to take with us - to help keep us a bit warmer.
Well, this year I eventually got around to it and these even became the first quilts where I used FMQ (free motion quilting). I was ever so pleased with myself - not a perfect job but heck, for a first timer - I was pretty chuffed. It's onwards and upwards from here!!!

The first picture is of my husband's quilt - I wanted to try raw-edge appliqué, so I cut the Apple Core blocks on a Co Cutter and lay then onto the grey fabric - had to jiggle them about but eventually, they settled into place and I was happy with the layout.

This one is mine! They are still the Apple Core block but they were tweeked around until this pattern emerged - I had no idea of the layout - I was just turning the blocks to see what they might reveal - and being a girl, I was thrilled with my Apple Core flowers!!!

Both of the quilts have this as their reverse side - just some different fabrics which made up the size.
You might notice that due to the layout, one quilt is bound in yellow fabric, while black suited the other one better.
