Aboriginal Quilt
Hmmmm!!! I'm not sure this photo does the fabrics justice? I sought out fabrics that would lend themselves to fussy-cutting but not really sure how to piece them together. Finally, I came up with this... I might have to upload another couple of photos so we can all see some of the great fabrics that are in it...
These 2 shots are taken from the top and bottom, hopefully, they show more of the fabrics and techniques used. In between the fussy-cuts are rows comprising of half-squares, diamond-in-a-square, Arlington Braid and a row of 2" squares by 2 rows - just to add some variation to an otherwise plain quilt.

Your quilt looks great and reminds me of rock art in the the Top End of Australia (NT)

Thank you for your comment - you won't be surprised to know that I bought all of the fabric from Alice Springs then! They have a great quilting shop with a wonderful range of Aboriginal fabric. I sat on them for over a year wondering how to cut them to bring out the "stories" - I didn't just want to cut it into 6" squares - a lot of thought and planning went on behind the finished product, so it's great to get some feedback.
ReplyDeletehi do you sell if so how much thanks and what size
ReplyDeleteJust love this. Have been gifted a large collection of aboriginal fabric and looking for inspiration.
